mlhj83
Anyone know where I can get one of these? I would personally mount it further up on the dash nearer towards the windscreen.
RedRobin
I want one too . I started a thread on this in the GTI forum yesterday. I've got the original manufacturer's web site but it's all in Japanese - Does anyone know how to get a free translater online?

RedRobin
Thanks for the translator. Inevitably the translation itself was rubbish though amusing. I have found a retailer across the pond: HERE

graeme86
Seems pretty straightforward... Seriously...the English weblink claims to fit a manual as well!
RedRobin
Funny, but some of the guys in the GTI forum where I posted the same subject, don't seem so keen on it. I think it's a good idea: Yes, you can usually tell if you need to change gear by the sound of your engine, the rev counter, and your car's pull (or possible slowness of it), but in the heat of enthusiastic driving a glance at the poor OEM display to check which gear you are in is very unsatisfactory. Besides which, why do most race and rally cars have such displays? Some M-series BMWs have it and so do many motorbike riders add one as aftermarket. I'd rather have it and not always need it than need it and not have it. On a Manual, a glance or feel of the gear stick position does inform you. On DSG you only have that tiny display which is jumbled up with other numbers - Poor interface design, Mr VW! .
Maxyboy
I think it is a good idea, but it does look a touch tacky. It looks like a halfords product for the saxo boys.
RedRobin
....I agree - It could look a lot better, so it comes down to how badly you want the info. This unit has been designed very much for the Japanese performance cars.
