DandB
I have the whole 3 for £30 (TV, Phone, Bband)via telewest but i dont watch half the channels and repeats and have decided that i might as well sack them and maybe just use my new tv's inbuilt freeview box. I did contact telewest and they say they can do the same deal for me (All 3 services)but only charge me £19 now I don't really use my telephone either and i'm thinking of just getting rid of everything but i do need broadband. I'm assuming a phone line is essental for broadband!? Is there a broadband provider that anyone would recommend, any prices or ideas? Any help would be appreciated
Sponge
Getting the 3 for £30 at £19 is an absolute bargain and if it were me I'd grab it quick! I'm currently 'inbetween negotiations' with Virgin Media (I'm a BY customer, as opposed to an NTL) and monitoring a thread on the MoneySavingExpert fora on this topic. It's a great read and the deals some people are getting are amazing. However, many are not. It seems the luck of the draw and depends on whom you speak to. Speak to retentions, not customer services and even then it's a lottery. I'm currently paying £35pm for 2mb (was 4mb for a month as means of compensation for losing Sky One), TV XL (I too don't need all the channels) and unlimited calls (which I do want). I'm due to call them again soon and threaten to drop the TV (again) in an attempt to get a cheaper price, or better bb speeds. A friend at work was offered nothing, so he ditched his TV and got the 2 for £20 offer. He then got Sky (satellite) installed. He's very happy though - he's got more channels and the picture quality is better too. Freeview would suit me, all I need is Cbeebies . But the quality and reliability of cheapo receivers, e.g. supermarket <£20 units appears awful and I don't really want to spend anymore (trying to save money, not spend it). Andrew
Ih Virgin and they gave me my broadband for free and upgraded me to the biggest TV package in the deal too. I used to have the middle TV package, Sky Sports and the phone and now I have the above too, all for the same price.
Sponge
I'd consider ditching the whole lot, but I don't have a BT phone line and it's £125 to get one installed!
