Chav
hi chaps, anyone know anything about these? need to get some people to develop something for OTA delivery, but they have crap reception where they work. so I need external antenna or similar for on-device testing that i can supply them with. would also be handy for one at my house as reception is poor and it'd be nice to fix this. any mobile (eg desktop antenna) or permanent solutions (on roof) would be interesting... Rich_Bee
Having an external antenna would not help a huge amount if the signal is poor in the area, depending on how much usage you use you may be able to pusuade the operator into installing a pico cell into the building which will sort it. Orange will be doing this soon as part of a standard offering on the back of converged contract. The other option is to get one of the phones that utilises VOIP as well as GSM/UMTS. This will 'roam' onto the home broadband giving the feel of being on the network even when normal phone signal is poor.
drpellypo
One thing you could try locally is switch 3g off on the handsets. I can't get a signal on my phone is UTMS or Auto is switched on but if I set it to GSM only I get two bars.
