Snail
All that will do is sell you an external wireless gaming adapter, which is cheaper to buy than the OEM Microsoft unit.
Snail
As an example, this would give you wireless access on an xbox (or any other wired network device)
durtydurty
So the belkin thing goes into the back of the Xbox and picks up my wireless signal from my orange broadband box and hey presto!! Is that right ?
Snail
Correct! I used an earlier version of that to make my original xbox1 work on a wireless network.
durtydurty
Cheers!! Found a couple on eBay that I can get for a fraction of the price of the Microsoft one. Thanks very much for that.
durtydurty
Okay, after pulling all my hair out and calling xbox support Im still no closer to getting this to work. The xbox says it cannot find the network my ornage box is sending out and you do get a link light on the dashboard you get no light in the act section of it. Can anyone offer any advice or has done this in the past?
Snail
So, im assuming you have router->wireless adapter->xbox correct? Do you MAC address locking on your router? if so you need to add you xbox's MAC address (available from the network settings page) to the router. If you connect a computer to the wireless adapter, does that work on the network?
durtydurty
Yes, I have a ASUS network dongle thingy, and when plugged in it picks up the orange BB network and works/connects. Have plugged the belkin thing in the back of the xbox and it cannot find a IP addy. My set up is like this Orange BB ( white box with Wireless on it ) into my PC either via cable or it can be wireless with said ASUS dongle. Into the back of the Xbox I plug the Belkin thing with a cat5 cable. Am I being right thick or something, can you guess networking is not my strong point!! Distance wise its not that far, a couple of walls and 10 foot max.
