fresco1
Anyone got any update on this? I hear from back home that a 28 year old (Estonian) and his girlfriend were parked up in a GTI at Dublin Airport near the perimeter last night. Thieves stole the GTI, and beat the owner so severely he has since died? Car was later found burnt out in Coolock. I gather the police have discovered no motive yet, suspicion is that the incident was related to a car-jacking? Flippin' awful - any of the Irish GTI community got any updates? Is this true?? jd6677
Yeah its all over the Irish news and papers at the moment: http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/breaking/2007/0430/breaking5.htm One paper is saying it was a golf worth only a few hundred euros. Although the burnt out picture of the car looks like a MKIV golf.
fresco1
Appreciate the full story isn't yet out, but even so it seems unbelieveable that anyone can be killed to knick a car, regardless of it's value. Also, this can happen anywhere. Sad for Dublin, but a sign of the times generally. There but the grace of God, etc etc.
jd6677
True - Tis a sad day alright. Car theft in Dublin is on the increase and there is lots of high performance cars getting stolen. I even had a friend have his nearly new motor stolen with the keys in the middle of a Sunday afternoon.
JoeGTI
Just saw this on RTE news. Definitely a MKIV Golf, hard to tell if it was a GTI or not as it was completely destroyed.
