spikeyboy
Currently sorting out costing of having new OEM front Disks and pads fitted to my S4. How long should it take roughly to fit by a mechanic ? Just want to see if local garage is coming up with the right lenght of time or are trying to milk it as i will be supplying the parts. They are saying 2 hours. Thanks
paul_tdi
I would suggest that is a little high to be honest. I do this sort of work myself to save on costs etc and I reckon I could do it in a about 1 hour, 1.5 max. HTH!
EssFour
2hrs seems a bit long. 1.5hrs max
Cupramax
They are quoting the standard service times so are not trying to rip you off, front pad set is 0.9hr and disks are 1.1 so 2hrs total. edit Take it back, looking at the schedule again if you do disks and pads at the same time its quoted as 1.1hrs. Scotty
Garage?!?!?! You need to : [1] Purchase the parts from NelsonA4sline (or whatever his username is now that he has an A3!) [2] Contact 4Rings to do the job for you. Check out the review forum. He did exactly this job for me.

Wrax
What is exactly involved in fitting new disks? Do you need special tools??? Any particular pit falls?
Cupramax
To change the discs... Remove the brake pads, undo the two bolts holding the caliper on, remove grub screw holding the disc on. pull disc off and reassemble reverse order.
spikeyboy
Thanks Essfour. Strange - i did a search all forums for 4rings and got no results. Still the good news is that it looks like hes based in Dartford which is just down the road from me

spikeyboy
Just thought i would say Dean did my brakes last week, top job plus he sorted a few other items out for me. He really is a top guy and will certainly be getting more business from me and i will be pointing friends that have Audi's in his direction. Once again thanks for pointing me in his direction
