fatcat
Quite frankly, it just ain't fair - here we are moving house (albeit downsizing) and all we want is a 32 incher for the lounge - and you are having a HUGE WHOPPING 50 incher for the bedroom......... Good for entertaining though I guess
Woppum
Thats the plan. Takes the attention off my inadequacies.

khutula
I have a 46" inch screen and my lounge is 25' square and the telly seems big at times

I am sure when you get the Panasonic you will see what I mean. For that money get a Fujitsu 58 series 50", best screen you can buy.
gizze
Please don't think I have anything against Pioneer, the next screen I buy will be the new 8th generation Pioneer, not saying I will keep it, but if the black levels are to be believed and they get everything else right it should be a stunner. Woppum
Nothing is set in Stone Guy, that's why I wanted to ask. I will check up on the Fujitsu. As always thanks for letting me know!
gizze
Make sure it is the 58 series. Oh, and the new Pioneers are out in around 3 months and should take flat panels to the next level. You also have the new Samsung LCDs with per pixel lighting which can turn off the back light behind the pixels for the blackest blacks we have seen. So I wouldn't go spending loads at the moment, there cold be some seriously good screens coming up. Nothing has really changed for the last 5 years but expect alot of new stuff this summer. Woppum
I know about the new screens coming out, but I really dont want to wait that long. I want to have everything set up in the flat so I dont have to chop and change later. Why are they going to be so different?
gizze
Becuase the black levels on them are now going to be at CRT level, even on LCDs. And if you like gaming an LCD is worth considering. The Pioneer is a great screen in many areas, good colours, good detail in darker areas, very little noise in the picture and a very shar picture. But it has poor blacks, so when you play dark games or watch dark films it can look a little washed out, run a film on a Pioneer and a Pansonic at the same time and you will see what I mean. So if Pioneer can get their new range to keep all the bits that make them so good and with decent black levels you will have a breathtakingly good image. The new LCDs now how decent blacks too, proper 1080p resolution and decent processors so the info is not thrown away, already a couple of impressive models out there and the next batch are looking very, very good. The new Panasonic is also worth looking at, the PZ700, it is available in 42, 50, 58 and 65" models. It has a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and is a true 1920x1080 screen. Also the prices are looking amazing, around £2900 for the 50", £3500 for the 50" and £5000 for the 65". It has a new anti glare screen, nice Piano Black bezel, 3 hdmi, 2 RGB scarts, 2 components, and S-Video. These are due this month. The Panasonic commercial screen, the one you are talking about is nice too, well in the 50" version it is awesome, and the 103" looks great too, so I would think the 65" is more of the same. I have the 42" version, got rid of the 40" as I prefered the sharper look rather than bigger picture, here are some screen shots I took yesterday and today.... SD Sky picture HD Demo Loop I love mine and considered it a very worthwhile upgrade from the Pioneer. The Fujitsu is the same screen but with much better processing in it, extremly sharp and deatiled, virtually noise free and looks nicer with the gloss surround. But the 50" 1080p version is going to be around £8k for the Fuji.
Woppum
Thanks for the above, just a couple of questions: Is the PZ700 out yet or is that the series you are talking about waiting for? £8k is too much for the screen in the bedroom. I was thinking more about less than half that. The Pioneer is around £3k I think and im not sure what the panny would be... Guy - you are worrying me now. Would I be making a big mistake not waiting? I really do want to get up and running asap...
gizze
The PZ700 are out this month. The new Pioneers are out around August and the 50" is going to be around £3k for the 720p model and £4k for the 1080p model. I wouldn't say you were making a big mistake if you went for the Fuji 50" now, or the Panasonic 50", that is now £3k for the 1080p model. Also burn prooof for gaming which is a big advantage over the Pioneers.

Or if you want the 1080p res for your gaming then this is awesome too.... http://www.av-sales.co.uk/Plasma-TVs-16/All-Plasmas-392-16/PANASONIC-TH50PF9-392-16.htm

gizze
I would personally buy the 65" Panasonic commercial panel again, the one you were looking at. More control over size and position, colour adjustments, etc. etc. But look at the 50" PZ700 for the bedroom.

Regarding the walls, I have been told they simply put some sort of strut behind to hold the weight of the 80kg TV. Common practice apparently...
