John_Doe
Hi all, despite receiving lots of excellent advice on how to, when to and what to do from a couple of real officianodo's on all which is bluetooth with regards to preventing my SE K750i continually disconecting from the RNS-E in my car. I am driven to looking for a more suitable phone which is more connectable and does not suffer from this issue.....perhaps a Nokia might be the best option?? Your feedback and advice would be most appreciated sil vous plait....
Vertigo1
My Nokia 6230i works flawlessly, both in and out of the cradle.

Markpaq
Thanks to CraigyB you can have a look at this post, it's a long one but phones have been added as and when they've been tested. Hope that helps.
edo
6230 works fine, bluetooth and docked.
TDiAvant
The problem with that phone list, is as CraigyB says, it can depend on firmware versions on the phone, and what module you have installed in your car. So don't take that list as 100% correct. If you are looking to buy a phone to pair up with the Audi system, then see if you can test it first
craigyb
From what i have seen the Nokia 6 series seem to be fairly rock solid, they all seem to work with the exception of the 6 series smart phone, can't remember the number. Also most of the motorolas on the list are ok, but the phones are pretty rubbish IMHO. Smart phones etc tend to be problematic, luck of the draw, firmware etc. My own experience of the K750i was flakey at first then rock solid with the firmware R1A008 and above. PetrolDave
My Nokia 6230i was 100%, and so is my Sony Ericsson K610i so long as there are no contacts of type "Other". Binned a Nokia N70 after that had random dropping of the Bluetooth connection, and it didn't swap phonebook or call lists either.

John_Doe
So much for updating the SE K750i feckin firmware to RIDB001...the fecker still disconnects after around 20 minutes or so and can only be paired by switching the ignition off for a few seconds, then switching on again only then do the phone and RNS-E re connect...then it all happens again and afeckingen! Tw@tting phone!!! Of course all call lists are immediately emptied so it can't be that...
Daz
Do you have any email addresses or "Other" numbers in any of your contacts/phone book? If you have, can you delete them?

PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] Do you have any email addresses or "Other" numbers in any of your contacts/phone book? If you have, can you delete them? [/ QUOTE ] The other thing that causes disconnects on SE phones is having a lot of entries in the call lists, maybe only lots of "withheld" entries (not sure about that). When my call lists are long I get regular disconnects, but clearing the call lists solves the problem.
John_Doe
Dave, no call lists at all but it still persists in dropping the bluetooth connection!! What exactly are "other" numbers in the address book?? I haven't got any but I'm still curious!! Settings: Bluetooth powersave - OFF? or ON?
PetrolDave
I've had powersave off and on, it makes no difference for me. "other" numbers are numbers that you have set the type to be "other", i.e. not "home", "mobile", "work", etc but there is another option of "other". If you have any of these then the Bluetooth connection will regularly disconnect.

TDiAvant
The coding of the bluetooth module was 010322, this was changed to 010722, which has fixed the problem

It's always nice to know what fixed a problem, so that when we encounter it again we can help out based on knowledge rather than solving it from scratch again! The 8P A3 settings are different to most other cars with the RNS-E fitted since the 8P A3 is CAN-only where the others are mixed CAN & K-line.
