Help!

I am currently selling a car through Autotrader and a guy has called interested in buying it, seems genuine enough and asked all the right questions but any ideas how I can tell he's genuine? He also wanted to pay cash (£6,500 - should I be wary of this?)

I have a location (general not address), landline number and mobile number but the nervous side of me wonders if he's calling from a phone box and PAYG mobile meaning he could be anyone. I've tried BT.com and he's not listed, any ideas on how I can find out if he's for real??

Thanks in advance.

Rich.

Always a nervous time selling a car to someone unknown. Best thing is to tell him you do not want to handle that kind of cash, ask him to pay into your bank account directly and then when they confirm funds are there you can release the car. Other option is for him and you to go to your bank and lodge the money then and there. That way you can be sure the money is not forged or anything. So long as the money is ok then who cares who or what he is.

The second option is normally the best one, as there is no come back from the bank if the notes are duds I don't think EEK2.GIF

Get a contact number for him before he turns up (Useful if things go wrong). Ask him to meet you somewhere public (take a friend) then drive the remaining distance back to the registered address of your car. That way you can see if he has a load of people who plan to just nick your car!
