Hello

I was just reading about the colour of a Mini and i thought i would ask some of you guys in the industry your thoughts.

We are going to buy a new Mini, either the One or the Cooper both spec'd to Chili pack with Automatic trans. I was thinking Electric Blue or Silver-grey colour or British racing green.

What colours should i avoid?? Basically we buy a new commuter every year and having had the Jazz new several yrs running we need another car which holds value well. From what we have seen for around £12-£14K this seems to be it. We expect to loose around £2k by the time it comes in to be changed. Obviously the Cooper Auto comes in nearer £15K and both will be on day long test drives over the coming weekends.

Thanks

GEOFF

As long as it isnt Yellow or colours people dont like you should be ok. Any of those will be ok. I like green, but some people dont. Having said that BRG on a mini is fine.

I'd be more worried about the effect of auto on residuals of a mini myself...

Hi,

I will avoid yellow!! I was in two minds over the Auto but then at the local dealer they had only one used Auto and more then 2 offers last weekend. I know in some ways its meant to be sportie and what ever, maybe it will have appeal as lots of people like them??

Does anyone have any details like prices guides for used examples of the older ones? Just to see if the Auto works out ok??

I saw the steptronics were quicker then the manuals on the Cooper "S" on the performance reviews.

I believe Evo described the previous auto as like an over-excited puppy, almost too eager to kick down. No idea what the current ones like.

As for colour, looking on the website I quite like laser blue with black roof and mirror caps, then again I drive a gold car crazy.gif

Hi guys,

I think if its the Cooper it will be BRG with white alloys etc. There are SO many opitions, its easy to go wrong and walk out with bananna yellow and black stripes and end up looking like a bee.The interior is really great looking, i did not think the materials were all that bad.

I drove the new one and the old one, the new engines (Peugeot based??) are way more lively.

Im stuck in autos due to a sciatic nerve, hence the Cobra Auto!!

I will try my best to park it. Its really funny, b/c the BMW stealer the parking spaces are SOO SOO big. Im sure its to convince the X5 drivers parking is a sinch.

This weekend i went on a few tests drives, including the new Golf, Touran and Polo, Very bland and boring inside.

The new Corsa was driven, it felt like small cars of old. Very close up front, little head room and the dash drawer opened out on the passangers lap and it did not fit flush on any of the FOUR cars they had at the garage.

The Vauhall Meriva was nice, shame about the amount it drops/devalues.

The new Clio was nice, i could see why people would like it. The 1.2 Turbo was sweet and the 1.6VVTi Auto was good too. It was low rent compared to the Mini, but i can see people being very very happy with the car.
