terrymcg
Anyone got these bulbs fitted? Do they give xenon like performance? Do you only need one pair for dip and main? Cheers!

billington
On my B6 Cab. the bulbs are different for main and dipped. H7 for dip, H9 for main, totally different fitting. Having bought 4 H7s I then had to return the H9s for refund, and so far have not sourced any H9s. STill, it'll be months before I need them seriously! maersk
My new car appears to have these fitted as standard. A little annoying as I bought some in readiness for the new car's appearance!
terrymcg
I got my set of bulbs in the post today. I have swapped one so far, and the result was pretty much no difference!! On inspection of the bulb I removed, the base has a lot of the same numbers as the new extreme bulb. The only difference are a few letters and the tip is a matt grey on the old bulb as opposed to chrome on the extreme bulb. Do you reckon I may have already had these bulbs fitted as standard? And How the hell do you remove the drivers side bulb, there is a massive air intake in the way!?!?!?
maersk
How old is the car? Mine is two weeks and defo has extreme fitted at the factory. Still spares are good.

terrymcg
Cheers Cabby! Maersk, my car is a March 07, did you bulbs look exactly the same as the extremes? Terry
maersk
Yep, smaller capsule sie as per extreme - only thecap colour is different. Take the intake off by undoing the two srews attaching it to the front apron, and lift away.
terrymcg
Were your codes on the base exactly the same? Mine differ in places between the original and the extreme bulb? I would post a pic of the two bulbs, but not sure how to put them on..........
maersk
I reckon the smaller capsule size is the giveaway. Thats how Philips has increases gas pressure and increased output - apparently.
maersk
Update. The code on the bul says it all. xxxxxxxxxxx yyyyyyyyyy zzzzzzzzzzzz standard xxxxxxxxxxx yyyyyyyyyy VP zzzzzzzzzzzz Vision plus xxxxxxxxxxx yyyyyyyyyy XP zzzzzzzzzzzz extreme
terrymcg
Yep same as what I had, my standards never had XP on them. So do you reckon that concludeds my car never had extremes fitted as standard!?!?
