taigA6Q
Dear All, My 2.8 A6 (late 97 facelift), has a strange click from the engine on warm starting. When cold it starts like a dream, but warm this click happens. My local gararge thought it could be anything from a misfire to starter motor. I thought it could be a temp sensor and the engine is not ready when warm? No fault codes. Has anyone any thoughts, any help would be great. Thanks
robpink
same thing happens on my A4 3.0TDI, had AM quattro check it out but 'no fault found'. Always starts OK but makes a click as starter motor 'retreats' although doesn't happen when 'cold' starting
taigA6Q
Thanks quattroRob, I will look into the starter motor further. Maybe a spot of grease will do it?
