SupaGuard, Permaguard... Paint Protection ????

I would have thought that they were all fairly similar. I've got the one they use on boats - A-Glaze. After 10 months it's still holding up but I'm not over bothered about how glossy my car is. I've never polished or 'detailed' my car but only washed and dried it properly by hand and with the right gear.

Check out the Cleaning forum for more info.

I've a mate who runs the North Manchester permaguard franchise and he did a black mx5 for me a year ago. As it was from new didn't really get the instant wow factor as it was spotless anyway, but it looks brilliant for weeks on end - repels the rain very well! It also saves a huge amount of time cleaning and comes up spotless with little effort - as it say's on the box - just rinse with water and then dry (like the review on thinkcar i also use the local motorway for this followed by a quick chamois to remove the last drips!).

Just changed to a silver GTI (wish I'd got grey though!!!) and had this done too - looks good for longer and needs as little looking after as you can manage to get it looking showroom shiney again - think both cost me about £150 each for full exterior treatment! Too tight for the interior! SPericani2.gifSPericani2.gifSPericani2.gifSPericani2.gif

And before you ask I'm not on commission from permaguard but would heartily reccommend getting it done!

If you read through a fair bit of the Cleaning thread, you will learn all you need to know about sealants etc.

I have Lifeshine and Diamondbrite on my GTI, plus various levels of hand-applied polish.

First big shock I had on the cleaning forum was the technical difference between polish and wax!

But armed with info, for the future I would definitely head for Diamondbrite (which I've had before, and it is good, and I'd rate above Lifeshine) and finish off with various AG products and top with Collinite. 169144-ok.gif

If you like washing and cleaning your car I'd do it yourelf with a kit from E-bay. You can get both Diamondbrite and Supaguard kits cheaply.

Alternatively find yourself a good local car detailer and get them to do it. There are some awesome car detailers on detailingworld.co.uk who would do a great job for you. They could advise on suitable products depending on your needs.

grin.gif I had my Boxster done by Permagard, can't reccomend them highly enough - the car looked fantastic and even over a year on just needed a quick wash and dry to look like I'd spent ages on it 169144-ok.gif

grin.gif and it cost half what my VW dealer charged me for the distictly average 'supagard' coating on my R32.

Hi Everyone - this is my first post, but a regular vistior.

I took my car to the manchester permaguard a couple of weeks ago and they did a fantastic job on my black GTI ( i was getting to breaking point as swirl marks were driving me nuts) they even loaned me a car overnight. As a result my car looks better than when i bought it and 90% of all marks have dissapeared

The guys Jamie and Graham where great they talked me through the whole process and didnt mind me arriving early to collect my car to hang around and watch the final process.

I have just got the lifeshine kit of ebay. Does anyone know if you need to remove the cheapo wax that the dealer usually applies, with something like megs nxt before you use this stuff?

It isn't particularly clear from the instructions.
