Luck1ng
My dad is looking to buy a new s3 - is it worth importing one?
adbsaxon
Maybe... if you want to save over £3k and can find a reputable importer. I'm using select automotive and they've been good up to now. Three weeks and counting...
james1978
how much did you save saxon,And is there any difference in spec (I think the seats are different)?
adbsaxon
As you can see I'm getting a fair few options. My saving was in the region of £4k. Difficult to give an exact saving as the exchange rate fluctuates and is currently on its way down (weakening pound with the prospect of a Brown government, god help us!). [/ QUOTE ] Good saving almost like some of the extra's free. Do they still come with only 2 year warranty ? When I did my S3 in 2000 it came with 2 years and the third year cost about £1300 from Audi I am being thick could you expand out the following options:- LRSP,ADFM & FTWI AZ
Froggy
[ QUOTE ] LRSP,ADFM & FTWI [/ QUOTE ] Guessing a bit here but; LRSP - Lumber support ? ADFM - Automagic Dipping Folding Mirrors FTWI - Front Twin Widget Indicators ?
adbsaxon
Sorry, MFSW = Multi function steering wheel LRSP = Light & Rain sensor pack ADFM = Auto Dimming & Folding Mirrors FTWI = Flat tyre warning indicator Yes, just a two year warranty but that'll do me. If a customer has the choice of your 2 year old car with no warranty and another with 12 months warranty, which would you choose. You will have to sell yours for £1300 less to cover the third year warranty.
adbsaxon
... but I saved £4k which by my math means 4000 - 1300 = 2700 which is still OK by me. There also aren't many cars with that level of options so it's a reasonably unique car. I actually plan to keep the car around 6 years so to me its immaterial. I do however see your point. As the saying goes... horses for courses ... you pays your money and takes your choice.

Dont be fooled in to thinking it is worht the same as a UK car though. I had this issue with my old S3, people know they are imports and although it is the same car they want some of the saving passed on to them. Nice spec AZ

Colmartin
What, on an S3? I've not heard of anyone getting that level of discount yet!

It seems that many have managed £500 typically from cancelled orders or in some cases £1500 from cancelled orders and delaer passing on saving. Your discount of £2700 is amazing was this from a factory order. I know if I pulled out of mins after paying 10% I officially would of lost it so maybe theyhave passed this on to you too on a cancelled order ? BTW - I am not suggesting the S3 should not be discounted its just dealer have been very tight and apparently been told not to discount, which is good for resale values obvioulsy AZ
Jamiekip
I only managed 3% so saved nearly a grand.
