Hi Pete,

Normally you would switch everything via the AV Amp, however the Denon system you have is seriously limited in connectivity for switching.

Looking at the list of kit you have the only way i can see to run it all through the amp would be to go for an external Component Switchbox.

The Sony DVD has Component & Digital Optical output

The 360 Has Component & Digital Optial Output

The Denon has HDMI Output (Digital Video & Digital Audio)

You would connect the Sony DVD Via Component & digital Optical to the switchbox. The 360 Via Component & digital Optical to the switchbox.

Connect the Component output from the switchbox to the TV and the Optical output from the switchbox to the Denon Amp.

Connect the Denon amp to the TV Via HDMI.

What is the input to the DVD Recorder, normal tv etc.

Jon.

Cheers Jon,

The input to the DVD recorder is just a normal TV via a basic sky dish.

What is a switchbox ?

We chose a Denon S-301 for quite a few reasons.

we do not want the hassle of 5.1 (cables under carpets)

Denons reputation for sound quality, their 2.1 is pretty good (I can tell you).

ipod connectivity.

We are after good quality sound and pictures, but are not prepared to pay top dollar for tip top cables.

How do you have everything connected currently and what do you want to achieve connectivity wise?

At the moment they are all in boxes (new) awaiting the house move

A simple system........

Turn on my xbox - play a few games.

Record on the DVD recorder and play back in/via the S-301

Playback music and video via the ipod & s-301

I want a simple set up that once completed needs no fiddling with !!!
