Poorly A4 and Audi Roadside!

Yesterday I was on the way to Croft for the Touring Cars - had to be there between 9 and 10 to get cooked breakfast in SEAT hospitality sekret.gif

On the A1(M) somewhere near York my car (A4 1.8TQS) Lost power. So I took my foot of the accelerator and back on and it was OK again. 5 miles later, no power again and couldn't get any power back, so pulled onto the hard shoulder. Called Audi Roadside, no problem. will be with you in 30 minutes, motorway priority. I gave them the number on the SOS phone next to me so they knew exactly where I was.

2 mins later, a call - Rodney is on his way, will be there in 20 minutes. Great.

Another call 2 mins later. Are you near Luton. WTF? No, I am near Tadcaster. Oh, well Rodney is on his way to Luton. Right, well I am near Tadcaster. Another call back, Richard is on his way will be 20 minutes. Sure enough 20 minutes passes and RAC turn up. He looks round the car, which wouldn't even start now. He gets in the drivers seat, turns the car over and announces it doesn't start. Well I knew that!

And then - 'I can't tow it, it's Quattto'. I know that. I told them on the phone it was a quattro. So I need a flatbed truck. by now it was 10.10 and I broke down at five to 9. No problem, half an hour he is on his way from Knottingley.

An hour passes. No truck. Ring Audi assist. Truck is just finishing other job. Will be an hour. Quarter past twelve comes and goes... Ring up again. The driver will ring when he is on his way. He called at half 12. Will be there in an hour. He arrived about 20 past 1. So, 4 and a half hours on the hard shoulder.

Not the best day, missed the touring cars and the free breakfast and lunch! Gutted...

So what is wrong with my car then? Fuel pump has been suggested......

Not only that, but why on earth didn't they send a flatbed in the first place, knowing full well it was a quattro? smashfreakB.gif

Hope you get it sorted quickly and painlessly mate. 169144-ok.gif

Because they don't listen on the phone. When they asked what car it was (I am surprised their system didn't say), I said an A4 1.8T Quattro. And I definately said, the guy I was with heard me say it!

The car is at Audi at the moment, it is 3 next week, and has done 62k miles, so not sure where I am going to stand with warranty etc?

Here is the news - It is a failed fuel pump. Apparently expensive if not under warranty.

The service advisor is speaking to Audi UK about doing it under warranty - apparently they are usually quite good about slightly over mileage cars....

I await with baited breath!

fekr.gif As if! It wasn't her who gave me the car, it was Roadside Assistance. I am sure if it was her call she would really want to chauffeur me around... ices_blah.gif, either that or the 4.2TDi A8 again coffee.gif

Sorry to hear that. I think Audi will cover it under goodwill, even if it takes some gentle persuasion.

No car that has done 62k and under 36 months old should leave you stranded at the roadside imo!

I am of that school of thought, too... Hopefully I will know later today...

OK, they rang last night and the news is acceptable, I think.

There is a long convoluted story but basically I have to pay about £100 - it was the fuel pump that has gone, so I have had a new pump and filter. The factory are paying 90% of the part and Audi UK are paying 80 odd % of the labour and I have to pay the rest. Does that sound reasonable.

I blame the whole thing on Sparky anyway fekr.gif. I PM you the invoice. I accept cheque, P/O, beer tokens etc etc the_finger.gif
