JasT
I was just browsing mytyres.co.uk looking for some replacements, and came across the Pirelli P Zero Rosso, at £109.70 each. The tyre test review seemed very good (see below) - I've also put the review in for the Goodyear F1 (£95.90) and Bridgestone Potenza (£101.20) for reference. Has anyone got these tyres? Any comments on them? I know in the past when I've had Pirelli's they are great in the dry, crap in the wet, and wear quickly, but then I haven't had any for years now. Also, any suggestions on replacement tyres for the .:R ?
MajorH
Cant comment on them on the R32, but I had a Saab 9-3 aero with them on and they were pretty good, although the fronts only lasted 10k miles.
Mattchaps
I would say look at the stats, the Eagle F1's have had 81 completed tests, compared to the Pirelli's 9. Am thinking of getting the Eagle's myself, and will be going through etyres
kmpowell
[ QUOTE ] Am thinking of getting the Eagle's myself [/ QUOTE ] Avoid! They are horrible horrible tyres... wallowy and very little feedback. I binned a set after only a few weeks. PS2's all the way!

Tonsko
I've had Eagle F1's on the last two cars I've owned, and they are awesome in the wet. In the snow they are a liability.
jonm51168
oh yes can second the snow part. but find them ok on my mkiv in the wet and dry
JasT
pomme, nice one. Make sure to let me know how you find them. You getting them fitted soon?
Woppum
Had both Rossos and F1's on the R32 Mk4. The F1's were far better in every way.
mlhj83
Sorry to hijack, but has anyone ever had any experience with the pirelli "p zero corsa system". I'm looking for a good combo between summer road and track usage. The michelin ps cups seem too track biased.
ChrisBuer
I was told that Michelin Pilot Sport 2's were good tyres but I've not tried them myself.
pomme
well my lms are getting a mirror polish to the lips and the tyres will be added then, which i should get back on saturday. [/ QUOTE ] Been for an extensive drive in a mk4 with Corsas and there is a world of difference. In this weather they really transform your car. I have cups on the CSl and nothing can keep up through the corners without me even trying...
mlhj83
How do the cups cope with light rain and damp roads?
Woppum
Here you go boss. Wrote a little review in the M section. http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1169519/an/0/page/0#1169519

chasdrury
On my A4 1.8TQS, Rossos lasted 9k for the set. PS2's next, great tye in teh wet and dry never an issue. 16k out of a set, but expensive. Now on Eagle GSD3 - int eh dry, awesome. Good in the wet and in the snow, well, i'll be walking next time it snows. And well priced too. I will be sticking with GSD 3's Chaz
Cuprabob
Can't comment on the R32 yet, but on my Leon Cupra R the F1s were much better than the Pzero Rossos it came with in all conditions and lasted much longer.
JasT
I've read a few more reviews on tyres, (some good one's on TyreRack), and generally the F1's appear to be the best all-rounder. I'll wait for pomme's review though, seeing as I don't need any replacements till after I get back from the 'ring end of July, where I reckon I'll shred the last tread off my existing set
pomme
I have finally got them, and have only so far driven them in the dry and i really really like them. They have a stiffer wall then my previous toyos and seem to grip better. But one thing i have noticed which is a bit of a downer is that the wheels are not directional but inner and outer. And becuase of the golf wearing at the inner side so much this means you cant swap them to get the most mileage out of them
JasT
Have you noticed any extra tyre noise? And let me know how they handle in the wet, shouldn't have to wait too long!
AGK512
Havn't you seen how shiny his mota is ? ... he doesnt drive in the rain
pomme
Had a bit of rain the other day and they performed really really well, really couldnt tell the difference between the handling from dry to wet
theshadow
I got P Zero Neros - smooth riding but relatively weak sidewalls and grip isn't as good as the PS2s. Curious to try the Pirelli Corsa system - should be better than Pilot Sport Cups due to the time it takes for the Cups to heat up but ultimately the Cups are a better track tire once they're up to temp AFAIK, plus the Corsa system is both assymitrical AND different front and rear, meaning no rotation is possible whatsoever. I recommend PS2s - best all around.
Mook
Disagree with that one, Shadow. I used to run PS2s and ran Corsas on the track. Changed to Neros for daily use and they grip better in the dry and wet when compared to the PS2s - even better grip when they're warm. The difference between the ambient temperatures of the UK and Dubai may have something to do with it, though
