stevepil
Hi All Have an Audi A3 1.8 2001 been to audi today to replace the instrument cluster as the speedo was under reading by 10mph, and the oddometer was not calculating correctly - cost £500 I have just had a call to say its not fixed the problem, next step is to check the speed sensor in the gear box, apparently the signals coming rom the gearbox are all ok and the ECU had no faults, could this fix the problem and what sort of costs does anyone know? they said if this does not fix the problem, you are getting into wiring issues, I am really worried. can anyone help as this is all sounding very expensive or does it sound like the sensor? thanks
realparadyne
Some wild guesses: 1) Are the wheels tyres correct? Has a previous owner changed the wheels or tyres and got the wrong total diameter? 2) Is the instrument cluster coded correctly for the wheels? Pretty sure there is a choice of impulse counts/kilometer settings. If they copied coding from the old cluster a mistake might have been copied over.
