RedRobin
GOLFMKV is a useful site for modding questions - The Americans mod their GTI's much more than people do here.
jaysgti1
thanks petsy. seems like that should do the job. Most of the rubbing seems to be forward of the screw though on the liner itself. Do we need a liner in there at all?
petsy
well the lining does protect the inner arch bodywok metal so yes it's needed.
jaysgti1
thanks guys. just been out for a blast along some twisties... no rubbing at all and it is quite undulating on my normal route...... well done. TSN'rs save the day again.

RedRobin
....WooHoo! You're just trying to get your own back by trying to get me to spend more money on my car! I'm seriously worried I might like your new suspension too much! Actually I think I'm safe cos I can't really lower my car any more without risking my OSIR front splitter. RedRobin
[ QUOTE ] looks great.... but you had it painted ??? why? thought youd want to see the carbon fibre? i think youve had bits cut out of side grills too, am i right? how much lower that rubber bottom is it? only asking cos i might have to do that too. are you going for a carbon fibre bonnet too? [/ QUOTE ] ....The painted part of the splitter is plastic. The centre (dark) part is carbonfibre. ....The OSIR splitter is just over 1" lower than standard. ....The open side vents (where the fogs are) are replacement parts from Germany and the same as the original stock GTI's had. ....No, I don't want to fit a carbonfibre bonnet. I think it would be OTT.
OzGTI
[ QUOTE ] ....No, I don't want to fit a carbonfibre bonnet. I think it would be OTT. [/ QUOTE ] This week.....you might think the carbonfibre bonnet is OTT this week but you'll be into it next week (or some other mod) if history holds true. Serious modder bug Red. The car looks the business BTW. Looking forward to seeing the carbon bonnet or the next addition!!

jaysgti1
i agree oz, i think we should hold a poll as to how long it will take robin to get a CF bonnet.....bets anyone ?
Snoopy
lol, I must admit when i looked at the thread of the CF front grill and mirrors, i wondered how long until he gets a bonnet myself.
RedRobin
CF bonnet on a track car perhaps but I think it would spoil any 'smartness' which the road car has and also doesn't look great on red car imo. Looks amazing on a black GTI though - Then it becomes subtle.
