cheechy
The auto dipping mirror has just fallen off my A3- It doesnt look broken but I cant get it back on. Anyone have any ideas how it fixes back in without me making the situation any worse? HELP!
Ian_C
For plain 'sticky pad' mirrors I'd just say drive into your nearest Autoglass branch for the team to remove the old glue and apply some fresh. However, rain sensors and auto dip rvm windscreens have big black boxes and wiring harnesses. What has come off - the entire lot, meaning it is hanging by the wires? cheechy
Ian - problem sorted - the mirror had come away form the base buts its a question of placing it back on then twisting the mirror clockwise until it fixes into place. Cheers anyhow!

RobK
Mine has done that several times. It's really awkward to get back on!

MGquattro
Hi I’m not that familiar with using the forum’s messaging system so I hope the picture appears ok. To remove and refit the mirror I used what is called a Baby Boa, and simply twisted anti-clockwise. That way I wasn't putting any pressure on the glass. As you can see the Non dimming mirror separated quite easily from the "spiggot" to leave a small disk on the window. To refit I just reversed the Boa and turned clockwise. When you have the first one off the mounting will make more sense. Just Don’t push too hard against the glass just in case, its more a twisting action. Hope this help in the future.
