Woppum
You need a software update from a VW dealer by the sounds of it. I had the same problem.
bazza_g
Go to your local VW dealer, ask to speak to the master tech and then scream "6463 update, 6463 update" at him/her repeatedly and welcome to Tyresmoke
coxysr32
did that do the trick then ???
Brisel
Ha ha! That might help! Alternatively, just ask the service manager. If they try and bullsh*t you with some story, go and find another dealer. The 6463 update was a warranty ECU software update issued by VW after they had made most of the Mk 4 R32s. Get them to check out your MAF sensor too, while they have it plugged in. Where is your local VW dealer? Within the TSN massive, we should be able to find you a good dealer who knows about R32s. Welcome to TSN!

Calm Chris
The old rumour was that 6364 + flapper mod = 10 bhp. Coxy- make sure they give you the print out to confirm 6463 is loaded, it has been known for VW dealers to say they have done it when they haven't. Thomas17
Hiya, I have had my R32 for about 3 weeks now and have experienced the same problem as Coxy. It is doubtfull that my car has had the update. As it will not have warrenty with VW anymore do u think it will cost much to see if my car has it and if not how much do u think it will cost to have done? Calm Chris
Thomas, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Go have a chat with the VW Snr tech or service manager, tell them you have details of the 6463 software fix and see what they say. It takes less than an hour, they might agree that it should have been done within the warranty period and offer it FOC. Problem was that VW didn't do a full recall for 6463, it was given only on demand, some had to demand in a rather 'strong' way- Typical of VW UK unfortunately. They might meet you half way or alternatively offer to do it within the next service routine, are you due a service anytime soon?
Thomas17
Thanks cri5, Yea i will ring them and see what they say, its not due for a service for a long time.

Chiptek
All you need now is a remap to really get the best out of your car!
coxysr32
what sort of bhp are you getting out of a re-map ??
Mook
If you just have it remapped without adding a Milltek exhaust, you should expect between 8-10bhp from a remap on a Mk4, taking it to around 250bhp. Add a Milltek cat-back exhaust and you'll get around 270bhp. Add the Milltek hi-flow cats to that and it'll take it to around 278bhp. blackpug
Does the 6463 update increase the power output?
coxysr32
ive got the milltek cat back system . the 6463 update just took away all the flat spots and made the pick up smoother and more responsive . worth doing if you've got them problems.
