Ari
Car was in the dealers today and I was waiting (only in a couple of hours) so wandered into town. Anyway, right opposite the Audi garage is VW so purely out of interest I strolled in to see if they had an Eos as I'd seen them from outside but never had a good look at one. Anyway, they had a demonstrator (actually one of the directors wifes car) and the very nice lady said why not take it up the road? I did explain I wasn't really looking to buy one, although maybe looking to replace my car next year so who knows, and she said no worries, have a quick go anyway whilst you're here. Well what a lovely car! Not quite Audi standard of dashboard style and quality (what is?) but perfectly good, and lovely seats, great driving position, and all the major controls felt nice. Roof is nicely lined inside, felt just like a coupe with it up. Test car had leather which I think it needs to make it feel as special as you'd want what is a "junior premium convertible" to feel. (Wine red in the test car, liked that). And the roof itself is brilliant. It has a proper big glass sunroof which tilts and slides electrically. Or you can of course drop the whole thing. Screen comes back rather a long way but doesn't seem to go over your head like the Megane and Peugeot CC's (I really hate that, looks terrible). Felt like a proper convertible to drive. (Just) enough room in the back. I'm 6ft 3 and with the drivers seat set comfortable I could sit behind it, albeit with my knees splayed slightly and head just touching the roof. But it is adult sized back there for short to medium journeys. On the move, very well judged ride (was a Sport), firm enough to feel sporty but not enough to ruin the ride, and roof up, very refined and quiet at motorway speeds (in complete contrast to an A3 S-line I drove recently which had a very harsh ride and lots of tyre roar at speed, very disappointing). Just felt like a nice coupe which is what you want really. Oh and the one I drove was the 2.0 TFSI petrol, so basically a Golf GTI engine and it really went. Downsides, styling slightly awkward maybe, and tiny boot with the roof down (and you have to post your luggage through the slot between the folded roof and the rear bumper, or put the roof up, it doesn't seem to all tilt up like the folded SLK roof). But that's the price for the fixed roof I guess. All in all a really nice car, much better than I expected. A solid 7/10 for me, boardering an 8/10. I'd actually seriously consider one of these next I think, which surprised me. Amazed you don't see more of them about.
TP27
Ari, MrsTP loves her TFSi Eos - I'd say it's the only option to opt for IMO, as the diesel struggles. Spec is important but it's a great day to day car, the hard top option is ideal (up here) and the only downside appears to be the length of delivery time. Boot is not too bad (takes my golf clubs if the roof it up) and we got the Eos luggage (that fits the boot when the roof is down) which is enough for the decent trip away. All in all, a fun VW package and an ideal partner to the R32 ! TP.
Ari
I like the almost EOS number plate! Good to hear an owners perspective, and sounds like 2.0 TFSI the only way to go.
Alastair_A3
I actually quite like them, in black with the wheels Mrs TP's has How much for a Tfsi with afew options, leather etc?
RedRobin
Cool 'real-world' review, Ari . The 2.0T FSI engine is award winning and for very good reasons. Imagine some simple mods such as anti-roll bars, possibly KoniFSD's, Milltek......Ooops! I'm getting carried away. Seriously though, just ARB's would make a difference. Aren't they bringing out a V6 version of the Eos? AWD? A sort of cab R32 - That should inspire a few people. Personally, cabs don't inspire me one little bit but I can see why others like them and they have become much more popular recently. If the Eos has the same chassis as a Mk5 GTI it'll handle and feel very good.
Ari
There is an Eos 3.2 V6, although as far as I know it is front wheel drive. More info here: http://www.vw.co.uk/new_cars/eos
Thorburn
Someone in our village has one of these, the 2.0 TFSI, and I think by all accounts he's been very pleased with it.
vagman
With regards to the above photo, it looks ugly from the front particularly the headlights and grille and the wheels are a bit naff. Sorry.

burble
I had a quick blast in an Eos a couple of weeks ago whilst I was waiting for the R32 I'd booked for a test drive to be readied. I liked it, a lot. It's a nice looking car, the wheels especially look fantastic!
