Oatz
What would be a fair price for a 6 month old (black, was top of the range) Macbook - 2ghz, 1gig of memory, superdrive with 120g harddrive. Looking at the apple store and combining specs for specs the nearest model is the entry level Macbook and comes in at just under £700 (exactly the same spec but only a combo drive and no superdrive like the one I’m looking at) Would really appreciate all opinions as I wouldn’t have a clue what these are worth second hand, half price?? Many thanks Cheers
Muppetboy
I just bought that same exact spec from Apple for £759, it's a refurbished one. I wasn't sure at first but some folk on here said Apple's refurb was top quality so I took the chance. I'm really happy with it, the laptop was absolutely mint. Still some left at Apple UK . So to me a 6 month old one would be worth no more than £350.
gizze
Macbooks hold their money well you will get £500 for that all day everyday. Put it on ebay as BUY IT NOW only at £500 and it will sell within 12 hours. I will give you £350 for it tomorrow if you want a quick sale.
Oatz
Thanks for the advise the reason I ask is because I'm looking at buying this from my future Mother In-law and obviously we both do not want to be ripping the other person off. [ QUOTE ] Macbooks hold their money well you will get £500 for that all day everyday. [/ QUOTE ] Even though you can buy exactly the same spec, brand new (minus the superdrive) for just under £700? (company discount). If so, those are fantastic residuals as I always assumed technology residuals were always at least 1/2 of the original price? Cheers once again
gizze
I just sold a 13" non intel mackbook for £400, it was a 1.6ghz, 1.5gig ram, cd writer/dvd reader and cost me £599 two years ago plus £60 for the ram. If you offer £425 for it you have got a bargin and she will probably think she has done alright too.

eolair
gizze's right - macs hold their value well. Try for £420ish, but it's worth just shy of £500. Before its 1yr warranty is up, buy the applecare warranty for a further two years. well worth the money.
Oatz
Bugger she now doesn't want to sell it so I'm just goning to have to buy anew one instead. Ritey
Its not coming out till October, processors have just been done, depending on how important the new OS is to you depends on when the best time to get it is. The upgrade price won't be much if you do decide to get it now
DHA
They have just updated the Macbooks and Leopard probably wont be out until October. www.macrumours.com has a buyers guide showing how long each model has been out and if they expect an update soon.
