S3ENVY
Hello mate & congratulations on your new purchase! A few people on here have complained of the same symptoms as you have with the DIS & as far as I can remember it's a replacement job. Not sure if it's the whole instrument cluster or just the display itself but pretty sure the only way to cure it is to replace it.

shao_khan
If its the same as the TT then it will be a replacement dashpod as the DIS isnt a seperate part and cost will be a few hundred.
Hopsta
£450 IIRC, not a cheap change
shark_90
It is meant to be a replacement job, yes. However I took my A4 cluster to pieces when I had that and saw how it worked. It's basically one of those flexible strips like a mobile phone screen or a calculator uses. I might be wrong but taking the cluster to bits and applying pressure to the right parts might solve the problem. Conversely you might break it so that it doesn't display at all. If it were me I'd take the dash apart and have a looky, but I know not everyone's as stupid/daring as me!
JamieSelway
I remember a similar thing happening on my 93 a few years ago. There was fix on the Saab forum by taking the DIS apart, packing the casing with draught excluder and then putting back together. Worked a treat, and a fair bit cheaper than the £200 the dealer wanted. I only mention, as if you fancy having a go, if it fails you have to but a new unit. Wheras the other option is just buying a new unit. That's if you can't live with it, and don't mind fiddling about with circuit boards.
