youngie33
First time posting into this forum, also first time VW owner, so please bare with me!! I have recently purchsed an 02 Passat Estate TDI S (130 bhp). My question is: Is there anyway to check that this car is actually the 130bhp and not the lower powered 100/110 bhp? Because it was advertised as the 130 BUT when I came to insure it, it came up on the insuring companies system as the lower powered Passat. Is there an EASY way of checking the car visually. Some one mentioned about the colour of the TDI badge on the rear of the car? Any help much appreciated.
Rustynuts
Under the carpet in the boot will be a sticker, it'll tell you the output in Kw usually.
youngie33
Could you tell me what the output in Kw would be for the 130 passat? Cheers.
kite
Don't trust the badge on the back of the car, these can be changed. As rusty says check the sticker or phone VW UK with the reg. Looks like it should be 95KW
youngie33
I will have a look at the sticker upon my return from work today. I have just phoned VW UK and they have told me that my registration number is against the lower powered Passat. Under the bonnet there is the engine cover with the words TDI on it as expected. The D and the I are in RED, as with the badge on the back (aside from the fact that someone MAY have changed these) does this generally indicate the lower powered Passat? I hope I haven't been swindled. Cheers
gypsyboy
mate if you have rang vw and gave them your reg and they say its a 100bhp then you have been shafted. so get yourself back to the garage.
Gash
I f ihave been informed correctly, i think the engine plate should read : Engine Code AWX for the 130 bhp TDI
Wobby
AWX was the early engine code, there is definately other 130 bhp codes.
