12 Volt Switched supply

Unless your battery is crap or you won't run the car that often, you'd be better with a straight 12v feed as a GPS-based unit that loses power for a few days could need a decent amount of time to re-sync with the satellites and draws very little power.

My GPS and other bits that run off my cigarette lighter setup don't appear to hurt the battery after even 3 or 4 days of idle time.

Guys,

Still stuggling with my ElsaWin so could some one tell me the best place to take an ignition switched 12 volt supply from under the bonnet. I want to fit a detector head for detecting stuff! shocked.gif

You could always try the relay box under the bonnet... Maybe the 12v feed to the electric fan relay? Just make sure whatever you use you put a fuse between your device and the feed....

Ok,

So, spent 4 hours under the bonnet and have been in the Engine management section, into the Relay cupboard in the passenger footwell and dare not touch anything. I remember how clever I thought I was when I fitted contactless ignition to a 3ltr Capri.

How do I get thru the bulkhead from the passenger footwell without removing anything major or get a supply off one of the switched fuses in the relay box without resorting to a scotchlock?

Any help graetly appreciated.

Mike
