AZURES3
Noticed that now I am at a huge 6000 miles the tyres are atleast half worn, slighty more so at the front but not as much as expected. Seems the latest Haldex does shift the power more, or I drive in a way that reflects my average MPG. Either way I was going to get the front swapped with the rears to give a bit more life, seem to remember this being in the handbook, anyone done this yet. Personally I like the Conti Sport Contact 2 tyre and it seems to have great grip in the wet & dry. Notcied that Kwik Fit have 25% of Conti's at the moment so 3 for the price of 3 and stick them in the garage seems like not the worst option in the world. Quite tempted by the Michelin PS2's though they look great. AZ
S3Rob
12,000 miles in and I'm down to 4mm at front, about 5mm at rear. Tyre wear precisely even as well, so I'm happy with that. Although I do check pressures every week. I thought the Conti's are ok as well, although everyone slags them off so would be interested to see if PS2 etc were noticeably better. Suspect I shall be the first to find out! Looks like I will get 15,000 miles before service, although it's had an oil change at about 7,000. AZURES3
12,000 miles, and you dont use it in the week At 6300 miles I have about 4mm all round I presume you got the oil change completed at an Audi centre, how much did they charge, did it extend the DIS service interval without intervention ? S3Rob
AZ, I have total admiration for your driving style and mpg figures The oil change was at an Audi centre but was ahem, unofficial shall we say Cost me a pint Didn't seem to extend the DIS, although I didn't actually check tbh. JohnS3
I've got the same wear front and rear at 5K miles. Don't forget you can only swop from front to rear on the same side as the tyres are directional. I'd also check to see if the rears have been balanced, just in case!! Regards, John. [/ QUOTE ] Hi John Indeed, local tyre centre that I trust and have been using for years have offered to swap front to rear and rebalance all 4 wheels for £20 AZ
Paul
I used to do it quite regular, when deep cleaning wheels. But since i have changed my approach and found the wonders of Viro-Sol, i dont need to take the wheels off to clean them so often. I probably take them off once a year now for a deep clean, detar etc.
