Over to the TSN massive smashfreakB.gif

Up to £2k to spend on the right telly, but I need to get it on Saturday EEK2.GIF

Screen size wise looking for something 46"

Usage mainly movies, but may invest in a PS3 for gaming.

I have a decent DVD player to connect to it Pioneer DVD-868 (with HDMI & component out).

Other items to be connected...

Sky plus

Tivo

Home Media Centre.

I'm not fussed either Plasma or LCD, but would like something relatively future proof.

I like the X series Sony LCD, but think maybe for similar money I could get a nice panny plasma, or dare i say it a fujitsu of joy?

All suggestions greatfully received 169144-ok.gif

The Fujitsu 58 series plasma is the best there is at the moment, but the new Pioneer 428XD and 508XD are out in a couple of weeks and these are a completely new tech and are meant to be breathtaking. I will wait to see as I am a little dubious at how good they will be over the Fuji screens, better maybe but a different league I am not so sure.

The PX70 is better value than the PX700, if you are going to spend the money get a PZ700 which is £2k, but also 1920x1080, not that you can see the difference between a 768 and 1080 screen passed 8ft away, but at least you know it is the latest spec.

I am collecting a Samsung M86 tomorrow, as my Panny 42PX70 is going back, first one faulty psu and the second one was used and had screen burn! Left on Sky News in Dynamic mode for 300 hours, Clever!!

I will tell you what I think, I did have one for 2 nights before deciding on another plasma, but this is for the conservatory so being able to ramp the overall luminance is quite important, I felt it was quite away behind my Panasonic PHD8 plasma though for overall image quality, but thinking about it now it is probably better suited to the job. Nice to put it outside in the summer with the Tennis, Football etc. on, you can't do that with a plasma.

Do you really need to get it on Saturday?? I would seriously wait for the new Pioneers if you can.

The 428XD (42") has an rrp of £1800 and it may make all other flat panels redundant overnight!

The Fuji 58 series is a gem. Although not a tv as its a monitor only. Retails around £3200 with a 3 yr warranty.

Someone was recenetly selling one (50inch model)for £2300 or £2100 with plenty of warranty left too. An absolute bargain!!

A good move, the new Pioneers have started arriving.

Reviews have said it is quite simply a completely different league to anything seen before.
