CactusGreen
Anyone had to replace their DIS display because of missing lines here? Lot's of posts on the US sites and some talk about legal action as so may failed... Just lost one line today, but it's in a place you only see it's missing on first starting up/checking the service time etc, just under the normal display points.... is a complete new cluster the only way to go? I have not been brave enough to ask how much the dealer might want yet
maersk
You might find that that is the normal break between the two screens and is not a fault.
CactusGreen
...so is this fixable then What I can see is that line is just visbable all the time, and shows up even when the DIS is off..but does not switch as it should for the display. As I said the line that is out is just below the last normal line in the display and only shows as missing when the inital 'press brake' screen is up, or the miles to service is displayed....so using more of the display up.... Chrisg
well known problem in B5s ( and TTs I believe) complete cluster apparently I was also told it would be black dial faces ....hers is quattro T Sport with grey dials £500+ and vat not come across a repairer yet........hers fades from the top left and after a couple of hours/ on hot summer days a few minutes the display fade, left side and top no longer legible. I tried a goodwill approach as the car was about 4 years old when it first started ( now nearly 8 - getting slowly worse)
CactusGreen
Might be able to live with it then....as I can also hear a rattle that sounds too much like a broken cat....

CactusGreen
[ QUOTE ] These people may be able to repair http://www.bba-reman.com/ [/ QUOTE ] Interesting - sent them an email. Not sure how they work on an exchange unit basis - does the unit not contain all the imob info etc, so needs to be coded to specific vehicle Thanks for the info - great find
