Toyota Avensis?

Been looking at replacing the S4 with a cheaper barge + toy.

Looking through a car supermarket website and found a few candidates (i.e. £10k or less).

One of them was a 55 plate Toyota Avensis 1.8 T3-X Estate with 22,000 miles for £9.5K

Anyone ever driven one of these? If so what are they like?

My sister has had one from new for 5 years or so, and nothing has ever gone wrong. Just gets serviced and thats it.

I have driven it a few times, and well its pretty dull. But no worse than you would expect.

Avensis that is

I presume that was the previous avensis?? Not sure the latest has been out 5 years???

The Avensis is a very boring car, however , look after it and it will give impeccable service for a good few hundred thousand miles - they just go on and on. You also have the advantage of maufacturers warranty for at least another 14months - not that you ll need it for this car 169144-ok.gif

Mondeo or Vectra's - Both good cars, you might even get a 12 month old diesel for that money as well. The Vectra is on 2 year/30k service schedules, Mondeo is 12.5k/ 1 year schedules. Youd have the benefit of a shed load of manufacturers warranty, which is always a bonus. We sell lots of both of these cars, and all customers are happy with either 169144-ok.gif

The Mazda 6 is also a good car......but like the Avensis is very boring ZZZ.gif

All the ones in question are pretty dull really but thats the nature of a full size family car. I'd rather own the avensis for its mechanical quality, reliability and cheapish servicing than go for a ford or vaux simply because you wont get excitement out of any of them.

I reckon it would be a good purchase along side your toy.

More importantly Pincher, what are the plans for "the toy" FIREdevil.gif

Nothing too extravagant Sam - potentially an early S2 Elise, although I have always like 944 cabs as well.

I'm trying to keep the cost to change fairly sensible, so we'll see what transpires 169144-ok.gif

One of the others that caught my eye was an 03 plate A6 Avant in 1.8T guise with just under 40K on the clock, for the same price.

My guess is that this would be a bit underpowered for the size of car?

but a remap would help Chris, 169144-ok.gif
