Thomas17
Had my my iv R for about a month now, Somtimes in second gear it would be a little sluggish. I read a post on the ecu update so i went to vw and my car had not had it done. 20 mins later i left with the 6364 update and it has improved a hell of alot, Alot more responsive on the acceleration. jimmyp
That would be the 6463 update, was bought out to sort a hesitation issue out around the 2800rpm point. Glad to hears your is running better since having it uploaded.
dubzter
It's quite amazing that there are still cars out there that haven't been sorted. You would think the dealers would sort it out when the cars are in for servicing. Good to hear yours is sorted
mb
Just what I was thinking - has been running badly for 4 years now !

pomme
Just wondering if you got charged for it, as i know someone local to me that vw is trying to charge for this?
Craigieboy
If they try to charge you then I'd point out its a warrenty issue, if out of warrenty then I'd say to them that it should of been done by them at aa earlier service and if its not done for free then a complaint will be made to vw. pomme
yeah thats what i told the guy to say to them, but just wondering if he had the receipt which says it was done under warranty out of warranty if that makes sense.
Mook
[ QUOTE ] Alot more responsive on the acceleration. [/ QUOTE ] The 6463 update is supposed to take the standard power output from 237bhp to between 245 and 247bhp BTW, you don't have to declare this to your insurance company, because it is a standard manufacturer's software update, not a remap. Thomas17
I did tell them that the update should of been done when it was under warrenty with the previous owner. After the discussion started to get a bit heated they let me have it for half the price. £37.00 + vat = £43.48 I paid £21.74 which i was happy with. After the drive home i was so glad to of had it done
Mook
You've paid your money now, but that is very, very cheeky on the part of the dealer. The 6463 update fixed a specific, known problem on the Mk4 R32 - all dealers received the internal communication and were told update all ECUs on all R32s when they came in for maintenance of a service. Despite your having spent your money, I'm pleased that you're enjoying the car more. Now all you need to do is start modifying it to make it go faster... As Mook says, that is out of order, when they should do it as a matter of course as advised by VW UK.
