Phantom
Quick question, Anyone had any experience of removing a locking wheel nut without the nut adaptor? I bought the set of locking wheel nuts for my other half's Peugeot last year and I left the nut adaptor in its packet in the back of her car. Last December we used her car to help us move house and we have somehow managed to lose the nut adaptor Bloody annoying to say the least especially as the packet had the serial number from which I could have ordered another adaptor through Halfords. So if I take it to the garage what are the options? Any advice would be much appreciated
rhyds
Options are: 1: Hope the garage has a set of keys and that one fits 2: Get a new key 3: The garage will chisel the nuts off
Oli
You can actually buy a tool to do this job, from trade suppliers. We usually hammer a slightly socket on there, or if that doesnt work or it has a spin collar then a chisel and hammer does the job - very time consuming though
jettadeluxe
Those 'reverse-thread' removers are crap, and rarely work. If the wheel bolt holes are shallow, weld a nut onto the locking wheelnut and use a wheelbrace as normal. Locking wheel bolts are normally not as tight to remove, as you can't get as good torque on them when doing them up.
techieboy
Don't know whether this kit is any good but, they reckon it's very easy and will remove any kind of locking wheel nut. www.lockingwheelnutremover.co.uk
