Real life running costs

Umm, I have a 987 and so far for me this calendar year it has cost:

$681 - registration & compulsory 3rd party insurance

$1425 - comprehensive insurance

$330 - oil change service at 7500km (and I got a Cayman S loan car!)

I'll be looking at another $1600+ next year to renew the warranty, and for tyres, was quoted for the 17" rims - $495 per front and $502 per rear tyre for the N0 rated Michelins.

I have no idea what a major service costs, but expect to do another oilchange one in 5000km (as the service interval by the book is 30000km/2years for oil, 60Kkm/4years for a biggie).

Does that help? (I'll leave you to convert currency) ECLIPSe.gif

grin.gif My 987 S running costs doing 20k miles a year were approx...

£450 for the oil service at 20k

£300 a month for petrol

£150 a month for insurance (full NCD)

£150 a month budget for tyres (19" = £900 a set every 10k miles)

grin.gif all part of the fun....

£150 a month for tyres! fook that!

What sort of MPG were you getting Bazza?

grin.gif Best go for the 18's to avoid the tyre nightmare tongue.gif

crazy.gif The computer reckoned 26mpg but when you do the calculations the real value (250 miles from 58 litres) was 19 ish - so covering 300-400 miles a week is why I've now got a sooty smashfreakB.gif

I make no excuse for driving my 987 like a wuss compared to bazza so here are my costs for 2 years and 26k miles

Rear Tyres in Jan after 20k miles (fronts still have 4 mm) - £400

20k Service - £248 + £46 oil supplied by me from Costco

Geometry Check - £222

For fuel, I get 380 miles out of a full tank

Insurance is about £500 a year

I'm just about to pay £113 for a brake fluid change and £900 for 3rd year warranty

The OPC tried to rip me off for new pads and discs but I had them checked at an indy and they laughed so the originals are still going strong.

grin.gif ahhh, I had no idea the 2.7 was so much more efficent than the 3.2 169144-ok.gif

From my limited experience of the 2.7 it did definately seem more economical. The OBC indicated over 30mpg on a steady journey - that's never happened on mine!

I think the biggest variable (perhaps after driving style) is traffic conditions. I'm fortunate and don't get stuck in too many jams and regularly get 340mls range in mine.

Mine aint going nowhere.

I get about 300 out of tank on the motorway and 230 round town at 60 quid a pop.

I have done 18k in 11 months and will book the service in and new rear tyres at the end of August. Insurance is 900 quid a year tax 300 quid.

Just love it...

Mine aint going anywhere either!

I get on a sensible range 375-400 on a tank and on a non sensible run 300.

As for costs I purchased mine with a service contract via an Contract Hire/PCP type company so I cough up £70 a month and wont get any bills unless I get a puncture!

So doing about 20k miles a year I should get some VFM!

he is getting a 986 so 18"s are the max anyway. I used to get 28-30mpg at a constant 70-80mph.New rears at around 14k, service was £400, RMS was £800 sportifs2.gif
