harminder
Hi all, I currently have a Kenwood CD player in the golf but I want to change the headunit back to the original that came with the car. Looking around, I assume the head unit will be a tape deck and the unit above will be the CD player Now a couple of questions: Is the the CD player a single one of multi CD player? Can I buy any MK4 model stereo and fit straight into mine? Will i also need the CODE when i fit the stereo? Also one last thing, I have noticed people selling gamma and beta models of the headunit....is there any difference and if so which one should I get? Thanks for your help P.S Car is a MK4 Golf (2000) 1.8T 3dr
benjie
Gamma is better - came in higher spec golfs. You will need the code, though it says in the car's manual that if you don't have it they will give it to you for free. The CD player just slots straight in, as well as the Gamma, and it is single CD. You can get a 6 in dash cd player, or an in-boot jobbie!
shark_90
Yep, Gamma is the better one, and the dash changer just sits above it or a cubby hole if you have the boot changer/no changer at all. I have a Gamma unit out of my Golf doing nothing that I would sell if you're interested.
