Remember someone posting about mixing a 50/50 split of RMG and VMG for light polishing and glaze in one and applied with the PC.

Does anyone remember this discussion, or did I read it somewhere else?

Just after some more info on how good it is and whether it must be machine applied only or whether the results can be achieved by hand in difificult to PC areas?

Cheers Guys!

Hi

Hand application is perfectly fine. By hand VM is paintwork cleanser, glaze and sealant, but should not be consider a standalone product. RMG works just as a pure glaze.

Under machine conditions RMG operates differently but in this combo it shouldent effect how the combo works.

RMG is generally obsorbed in to the surface of the painwork and if your left with lots of red dust on your car then your not working it in OR your using to much. With the VM/RMG you might be left with some residue you might not. It really doesnt leave much of a haze, but i suggest buffing the whole area either way. I doubt on light colours you will see much at all!!

Best applied with Microfibre Applicator to work the product well in to the car and get the most of from the microabrasive content of VM.

Cheers once more Geoff!

Basically I am about to tackle some more of the Golf, which I am getting to do very slowly indeed. I have some new front lights to go on and so wanted to do the front end before doing so I can fit them into the clean area.

I dont want to PC the front bumper so was trying to think of the best method in which to polish it by hand and with what products? The Menzerna samples I have will probably not be suitable by hand I am thinking so wondering what I can use in their place for the Polish bit?

I will be using:

Sonus Green Clay

WHICH POLISH?

Wolfgang Pre Wax Polish Enhancer

Clearkote RMG

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant (Maybe Even Poly-Charged?)

Will then whack a few coats of Wolfgang Spritz Sealant (Polycharged?) over the top before whacking some Souveran over it just for the hell of it!

Should come out pretty tidy if I can sort out some sort of Polish in the middle?

Hi

Working by hand its always tough but with the right kit you should be set. Polish i would seriously look at Einszett http://www.einszett.co.uk/ Paintwork Polish followed up by something with a smaller abrasive like Metallic Polish & Wax.

Head to Autopia and run a search for 1z* or Einszett or any of their polishes as there are few threads on these by hand. The Extra Paintwork Cleaner will remove nail/key marks from Audi paintwork by hand around door handles. But it is alot a work on large areas. Use the large MF applicators to work the Einszett products.

The Menzerna can be used by hand, i think its reffered to on one or two of the UK products site like Cleanyour car but they only really work well at refining the surface/paintwork chemical cleaning rather then making any serious improvment.

Polycharging is great, i have Megs #21 polycharged and it was still beading tightly after 3 months on lower panels. Im sure with the WG it would be extra slick and long lasting.

You could always consider a 4" pad on the PC!?

Hi Geoff,

I was thinking of doing it byhand as heard os many people, on other forums, suggesting that painted plastic items were not the best things to use the PC on.

I have 2 sets of SFX pads in 4" so will try them if you reckon it is safe to do so. I wont hold you to those words though dont panic! laugh.gif

Dont fancy the Menz range by hand as will probably be far to hard to work down. Will take a look at the 1Z range though no worries, as the missus' A2 has plenty of marks around the inner of the handles.

I know the Polycharger is on offer on at C&S at the moment and will probably go for the double kit:

Polycharger Kit On Sale!

The WG Sealant needs the CH2 and the Spritz Sealant the H20 so worth going for the double jobbie with £14 off!?!

Could be interesting seeing the finish achieved. Once Poly'd do you need to leave the Sealant on for less time than the usual 45 mins for the WG? Just a little worried it may be difficult to remove although dead simple in standard WG form.

Cheers, Ben.

Hi,

The Extra is not safe i think b/c in the very early days clearcoat or laquer finishes were not very deep. I wouldent want to put EPC on my Cyclo/PC with an Edge cutting pad on modern paintwork though!!

The problem is with abrasive heavy products working by hand you can leave alot of marring, press to hard and you might not get that maring out. For any large areas i would give EPC a miss.

I havent used it other then a very small amount on the key marks around my doors. No problems there, always chased it with lighter polish.

I would think you could get away with paintwork polish easy though.

I use my Cyclo on painted plastic, no problems so far. It only uses 4" pads, i would just make sure the painwork is good condition before you start!!

Polycharging is great, a shame you need the different stuff for each product!!

Got 2 sets of the 4" pads so will tackle the bumper with them for sure now.

C&S have a great deal on the Polycharger at the moment. YOu get both kits for £35 right now so makes the fact you need 2 different setups a lot easier on the pocket!

Going to get a bottle fo the Vanilla Moose Glaze and try out the "Pink Moose" idea on the bumpers.
