Mook
Ron Dennis has said that he hasn't spoken to Alonso for over a month and that he's a "recluse". Not that I'm being cynical or anything, but are you bloody surprised..? Maybe a bit less of the Alonso not talking to him - maybe a bit more of "you dropped my team in the sh*t and cost us $20M"... No, really, this is no sign of a pre-cursor to Alonso being "let go" at the end of the season, despite the fact that he'll probably go to his next team as World Champion I do love F1 politics
Dave
Alonso is a twat in my book.. what a way to treat your team principle... I hope he loses his seat at McLaren and no other bugger gives him a job
Ritey
Well if you think about it, how many other teams could afford to be dropped in the doo doo like that and survive? I think the teams willing to take that gamble are who he'll get a drive with, and they are the teams who haven't got much else to loose! Spiker anyone
CarMad
I think they will do a deal with Renault. They will loose the dossier they have on them and say why don't you take Alonso off our hands as a result IMO. Otherwise it would cost them a fortune I guess to just drop him and not many could afford him. I guess he might have a clause in his contract about bringing the team into disrepute etc... RedRobin
[ QUOTE ] Button to Mclaren, please!!!! [/ QUOTE ] ....Agreed! And we're not the only ones wanting this. No surprise re Alonso - He's not a sportsman imo.
stooH
I think Button deserves a chance to see what he can do in a decent car, perhaps the opportunity to drive in a Ferrari would be a good one for him...
khutula
They should bin him off as soon as possible - he's an arrogant ar5e. Not getting preferential treatment Button for McLaren please
Mook
So everyone really likes Alonso, then
farmerpalmer
Alonso does not seem much of a sportsman -trying to force his own teamate off the track. I would have more than harsh words with that stroker boy!
Mollox
Wasn't it $100m?
Mook
It was a $100M fine minus the money they would have won if they were allowed to win the championship. So they will theoretically win $80M - take that off the $100M fine
Mook
[ QUOTE ] trying to force his own teamate off the track [/ QUOTE ] That's called racing
CarMad
Thing is it's still an effective $100m fine, they still lose out on the prize money. Yes they only have to find $20m but the business might still have a bit of a hole in its budget for next year. You get a fair few pennies even if you get 1 constructors point let alone win it. As for Alonso he is still a great racer but hasn't had the attitude of a world champion IMO. He was getting beaten by a rookie and the toys went out of the pram. I hope he doesn't stay next season but I have a feeling he will.
Mook
It would be interesting to see if he was kicked out and no-one hired him...
Luke
I'm stil waiting for Mclaren to switch off his car mid race so that LH can win the Drivers WC. Mr Dennis will not let FA win the championship and take the no. 1 to Renault/Spyker......
Speedywheels
Listening to the commentary on the GP last Sunday, Brundle said McLaren will be demoted to the end of the pit lane next season so will have to slum it with less room reducing the amount of support they can take to races - something I wasn't aware of.
Luke
i saw that too, also wasnt aware. top teams get 5 to 6 garages, down the wrong end only 3. how strange is that? Mclaren will do some sorting I'm sure.

byron13
So if LH drives "aggressively" it's called magnificent brave racing and if Alonso gives it to him back it's unfair??? There have been several incidents this year when LH starts etc have been seen as aggressive. Did I watch a different race to everyone else??? Alonso moved to protect his line and to also allow for Massa who had locked a wheel and looked like he might swing wide!! LH as ever just barged into a position on the track and this time it did not work for him. Great driver but please lets be reasonable here and not so one sided. IMHO
byron13
These guys are all ultra competitive and HATE to lose so when they squabble why are we so surprised it’s what makes them so good. Even squeaky clean LH has started to show his “other” side recently having been of the top for a bit now. What with digs at Alonso for that “move” and for not attending the Paris court. It’s what it is all about and makes it great. Alonso will always have a drive for Flav if he wants it so doubt he is bothered, if he is sacked then there is no “buy out” Don’t forget they paid lots of cash for him and will not give up an asset without a bit of cash. As regards hindering him in some way they had better be very careful as it is against the rules and if Alonso can prove it then MC are in more trouble again and kinda tells everyone that they were backing LH all the time!! Luke
Perhaps RD will say to FA that he has some info on him and if he doesn't play ball he'll grass him up.......
garcon magnifique
The very idea that Alonso could find himself without a drive next season is ludicrous. He is easily the best driver on the circuit right now. Easily.
byron13
I think Button is great but just lacks the killer instinct bit that LH and Alonso are displaying now. Wish he could go to Schumacher School to learn it then he would wipe the floor with them all. wish!
