confused (as usual) by the stealer

Ok... here's how it went.

About 1 1/2 weeks ago i called the stealer to find the guy i bought car from had left the day before. The sales manager called back with the guy who will be handling order's name then told me my car was at build stage 3 of 17 and should be here first week of sept.

Early last week - called guy i have to deal with now and he told me car is build week 33 and should be ready for 1st sept - so i asked him to check as i thought it had already started build. Sales manager called back and told me car was in bodyshop now but factory is closed for 2 weeks then it will take another 2-3 weeks to get car to the UK.

So my question - if it was due for build week 33 (this week) then how would it be getting built if the factory is closed?? But it has already been started nearly 2 weeks early - does that mean i would get it early??

Anyone know what the funk the stealers are on about as they are sometimes saying it will be ready for 1st sept and other times saying it may be 2nd week of sept!! Shall i give them a call and give them a little grief to get the decent service they promised me (hey i just came from merc SAUER0421.GIF so know about bad service!!!)

Leeds - they scammed me a little and let me believe the order had been placed at the start when they had filled their slots for a month or two - also all the extra stuff i managed to get the stealer to agree to was questioned by this new guy as the old one didnt write anything down - no mention of the plate plus the little extras i managed to get him to look at for me. So need to try convince this new guy that we had an agreement - its like negotiating with no backing.

I was told by my stealer that I would get my car third week of September. Stealer told me that the build week was 33, but now I've been told build week 37 as the factory is shut this month! Looks like I'll get my car 2nd week in October hopefully! I was also told that VW wait for a similar number of specced cars to build then they build as a batch and this may be why mine is taking longer!!!! I am not sure I believe this and I'm now a little confused. The stealer also said that the build week can jump around until VW confirm. This has left me unsure of when I will actually get my car. Anyone else been told similar?

well mine slipped by 5 weeks as was provisionally week 28 - then it finally confirmed at 33 (which is this week) but my car has already started build and is in body shop.

Confusion is getting slightly annoying to say the least especially as i dont have a car at the moment...!

I don't buy the "VW wait for a similar number of specced cars to build then they build as a batch" thing. My stealer claims that mine is production confirmed for next week. I am going to be mighty p*ssed off if it slips I can tell you!

I too am without car now frown.gif

I was told wk 34 , then week 33 confirmed , today it's confirmed week 34, and little if anything is being built this week. On a positive note they are saying there are currently more ships than normal and turnaround from sheerness is quick.

Sam Dalton wrote - "My stealer claims that mine is production confirmed for next week."

This is getting quite confusing and frustrating as my stealer says the factory is now closed until the end of August (hence build week slipped from 33 to 37) so how can your stealer being saying one thing and mine the opposite! This is annoying to put it mildly.

I will be without a car come end of September and was always told that I would get my new car by 2nd/3rd week of September so would have been perfect timing. This will not happen now even though I had assurances from the stealer that everything was on track. It makes me want to scream!!!

skifly,

are you dealing with abridge VW ?

had the same problems. they said they placed the order, then told me it wouldnt be placed for 2 mths. then when i went back to complain they told me they could throw in a full tank of petrol and couldnt swap over my hands free phone kit free of charged (as approved by the "funking" stealer i was dealing with) also wouldnt return any of my calls....

new stealer has given me a confirmed week build of week 36. hope it stays that way !!

I feel for you guys, I went through the same grief 5 months ago, Mine was finally delivered on March 16th.

Hang in there you will totally love it when it arrives.

Check your alloy's, they managed to scratch one of my 18" Monza 2's I only got the replacement 3 days ago.

That's how long it takes for a replacement 18", apparently they are on special order.

Well, I thought I would phone the dealer and find out what is happening re: my car. She tells me that it is still confirmed for next week, and that it would show on the system as 'frozen' if it was not. She knows nothing of a factory closure, and says that she has customers with cars being built in every week of the last 4.....

nope - dealing with richard alexander in leeds. Not impressed with them so far and if this rumoured call from VW about feedback comes through i will make sure it is mentioned!

....We all (I think) get a phone call from an independent company on behalf of VW asking us if we were happy with our purchasing experience and our dealer. You will have plenty of opportunity to complain if you feel it's justified.

My dealer was very concerned indeed when I told them I wasn't happy with them at one stage and kept asking me to report kindly....They don't receive their commission until any issues are resolved and if they consistently receive bad reports from customers VW can dump them as authorised dealers. Nice flashy showrooms and reputation would nosedive overnight!
