mandat
I have an 06 Audi A4 with the Audi Concert stereo system. I have recently noticed that when driving thorough Rotherhithe tunnel, as the radio reception fades away, the display shows “ALARM”. When this message is displayed, the CD player won’t even play CD’s. This is very strange as I've not seen this before in the 18 months that I've had the car and this has only recently started to occur. I haven't noticed this effrect in any other tunnels, but have not used the Blackwall or Dartford tunnels recently. I’ve read the AUDI manuals but can find no mention of this type of problem. Does anyone know what is causing this?
shark_90
There is a pin on the radio loom that should be grounded, it is meant to set the alarm off if the radio is removed while the alarm is armed. I wonder if it would have anything to do with that pin? Doesn't explain why it came on in the tunnel though.

Froggy
It's a RDS PTY (Program Type) priority message. It's normally used to indicate a major catastrophe (4 minute Nuclear warning, impending stealers bill...) or similar. Hence why the CD player doesn't work while it's on. I'm guessing it's something to do with a radio system employed in the tunnel.
