Monkeypig
Has anyone had a tracker system installed? Havent checked out insurance yet, but guessing some companies may expect one to be fitted.
shao_khan
Had one on Both boxsters and also on my Beetle Cab, loads available, and if you fit one first you can select what suits you best, if you wait, some insurance companies will then ask for certain models. Cannot advise you of which is best, as I went for decision based on cost.
nobrot
I have one on my TT it dropped my insurance by about 80 a year so although it doesn't pay for itself it does offer peace of mind. I have also bought the cheapest it doesn't seem to bother insurance companies which one you install. My current insurance company 'Priveledge' insist on a tracker and they were easily the cheapest company.
Lagoo
most insurance companies require one to be fitted on cars which are worth more than £30k
shao_khan
Although my NB has a tracker the insurers insisted on proof that an imobiliser was fitted!!!!!!!!!
Adam
strange, don't remember any of mine insisting on it
shao_khan
Only people that have insisted for me was direct line.
nobrot
Priveledge insisted on a tracker and Churchil gave a discount for it. I will be fitting one to the Boxter, these cars a not joyrider/ramraider cars as they are virtually imossible to start without the key, don't have big boots or four doors, so the car if found is not likely to be damged or even driven so shouldn't affect insurance. If I had a car that was easy to start though I probably wouldn't want it back as it could be damaged. Car theifs, people without a license or insurance shoud should be EXTERMINATED and rot in hell
nobrot
Would you get the OPC to fit the tracker or take it somewhere else?
Monkeypig
Not sure where I would take it, probably not an OPC. Purely from a cost point of view.
shao_khan
Mine was done by OPC - same price as getting someone else to do it - only advantage is that OPC gets it done before you get the car so you dont waste a day of driving waiting for it to be fitted!!
