AnArtist1
Passengers screaming or something mechanical? Describe the noise a bit more. And where from roughly. Should make a nice smooth screaming V8 noise.....
badmaash
its mechanical seems to go after 4.5 revs sounds like the belt or pulleys
PsYcHe
Have you checked with the car in Neutral and the engine revving? OK, then engine's not under anywhere near the same load, it might help to pin things down and will take away the drivetrain as a potential issue. LostKiwi
What kind of mechanical noise? A screaming, whining, grinding, roaring, or perhaps 'tinkling'? Very hard to help without either a sound bite or a better description. Also how many miles has it done?
AnArtist1
I had a whirring, grinding noise which sounded like it came from under the gear stick. I thought it was the gears but it was a disintegrating Catalyst. Only made the noise at certain revs whilst accelerating to start with then all the time... badmaash
Its a whining noise i am thinking it may be the one of the belts but not sure at the moment.

LostKiwi
Is the whine speed dependent or only revs dependent. If it speed dependent look towards transmission/wheelbearings etc. If its rev dependent look more towards engine, belts, tensioners, exhaust etc. Best way to check is to put the car in tip mode, select 2nd and try to reproduce it. Take note of the rpm/speed where it happens. Then try it again in third and take note of the rpm/speed. Should be easy to isolate if its speed or revs dependent. If you have 70k+ miles you could be getting cavitation of the torque convertor perhaps (this will likely be rev dependent)? Check the fluid level and/or replace the transmission oil and filter (lots of info on here about that or look at www.audipages.com).
