gb110430
if so how much by, fast, slow, is it a case of quickly on the accelerator to get control???
Wallachie
Yes, just like a manual car would if you had the clutch in. Either use the accelerator or the handbrake to hold you.

Biscuits
It's been a while since I've driven a mates, but I thought it crept forward when in Drive... a la Automatic style. Maybe wrong though.
gb110430
apparently not which was a surprise to me but it snot really as it works on two clutches which when on brake are like a clutch depressed still don't understand why it rolls though.....just seems dangerous
Cagey
I think it has hill-hold function - perhaps it only kicks in on certain gradients. I don't get to drive mine enough to notice...
CarMad
DSG does roll backwards a little bit, if you put it into drive and press the brake it will take the bit up on the clutch. Take your foot of the brake and it normally if its not a big hill will then pull forward. As with a manual clutch you might have to hold the handbrake a little and give it a little gas. On models fitted with hill hold when it works you will have no problem. On the diesels the clutch doesn't seem to work as well as on the manuals, it struggles with the torque sometimes. If you have a look in the Reviews section a few pages in there is a review about how it works there, ditto look in the GTI forum for loads of DSG related info. RedRobin
DSG (on the Mk5 GTI) doesn't roll back unless the incline is very steep and then it's really easy to control with a tiny bit of throttle - Providing the car behind you isn't far too close! 'Hill Assistant' as it's called is standard and works well.
