I thought I'd post in here rather than starting a new thread. Can someone please tell me the difference between all these £40-£50+ snow foam lances and the Karcher one on the Halfords site for £14.99? confused.gif

Answers along the lines of "Around £25-£35 quid!" will not be helpful.grin.gif

I'm assuming build quality and longevity but even so, I could get 3 Halfords cheapies for the price of the competition..

I have one of these and it foams my car as good as I could want. Given the cost, it's a bargin. Spend the extra on detailing products. wink.gif

Its not called a HD ( heavy duty) lance for nothing. This is a quality piece of kit and will last you a long time. A good comparison between the halfords one and the AB ones is its like buying halfords own brand shampoo compared to buying a quality one like Chemical Guys for instance. Spend the extra its nearly always worth it in the long run. 169144-ok.gif

Just arrived, hand delivered by the AB boys, as I'm just down the road from them. At first glance the construction looks pretty solid, not sure why it needs a "food grade" pickup tube though! Only fault I can find with the construction is the PTFE tape used to join the pipe at either end looks a bit ropey. It fits prefect on to my Karcher lance, no sign of the issues others have reported. Not had chance to try it yet, will report back when I do.

The PTFE tape was like that on mine but it is better to have too much tape than too little and it leaks?

Make sure the two parts are nice and tightly screwed together though, as mine was slightly loose and the foam mix was not as good. Gave it a quick tighten up by hand on first use and it totally changed the thickness of the foam!

You will need to mess about a bit with the mixture adjustment and the fan adjustment to get it the way you want but simple once you have used it once.

Enjoy!!!

  • 3 weeks later...

Bought one of the Autobrite HD lances and find its very tight to put on and off the washer. I had hoped this model was better quality and fitted well. so is it a drill out with a 8.5mm drill bit that is required. I assume its just a quick run with the drill that it needs?
