Focus ST How fast???

I bought an .:R because I finally could afford one (sorta! :P ) and had lusted after one since I first saw them in 2003. I felt like royalty for the first 6 months every time I got into the cockpit for a drive. Didn't matter where, nor how fast, just the mere fact I was driving this fabulous machine laugh.gif. Personally, a focus ST wouldn't make me feel like that, which is why I didn't buy one. If I could afford more than one car, perhaps, just perhaps, I would look at getting one, but then again would more likely plump for a car that came in at second choice when I chose the .:R, a 350Z.

And that is the crucial thing. If your car makes you feel that way, then you know you've made the right choice, and screw what anyone else thinks.

I also know there will be many owners who feel exactly the same about their Focus ST. 169144-ok.gif

Have you ever stood behind the wheel in a ST? Did you norice the build quality? Practicaly, the most important thing with a car is the way it makes you fell, and that is best underlined by the interior (way better in the R) and the way it drives, traction and everything (for me, way better the R). Thats only my 2 cents

Now I'm afraid that I completely disagree with. I've not spent much time in either of the two cars, but I was given a lift to the airport in a brand new (200 miles on the clock IIRC) Focus estate and it was plasticky, the door panels were flimsy and it rattled like hell.

How you can say that a Mk5 Golf is anywhere near as bad as that astounds me.

Lol. I can just see it now. Your mate turns up in his new spanking R32, you say, "look this is a bit loose" and pull the volume knob off the stereo. "How much did you pay for this did you say? 30 grand? I reckon they saw you coming. Look, this centre console isn't fixed on properly", as you heave and tear it out. lol.gif

Plus it's not really deal breaker territory now is it!

As for the rest, having poked around (but admittedly not lived with) several GTIs & R32s I would say there's no more than a 10%-15% difference and a lot of this stuff you don't touch on a daily basis so who cares anyway?

Biggest problem with the ST interior is the seats. Very comfy indeed but get a wrong 'un they creak and move around a lot mad.gif

Whether that's down to Ford/Recaro or Ford's management of Recaro I don't know but it can be bloody irritating.
