Rustynuts
Some cars had a deactivation switch (in the glove box I think) for turning off the airbag with the ignition key. For those that don't have the switch it can be done with Vag Com, or the dealers will charge you for doing it.
apples
Thanks mate will check my glove box later, what's Vag com?
Rustynuts
Vag Com is a software system which does virtually all that the dealers systems can do. It costs about £150 for a connector lead and (free) software, then you can do allsorts to your car. As long as you have a laptop to connect to aswell.... jedster0
You dont need to turn off the airbag............... The airbag only needs deactivating if you have a baby in a rear facing child seat This is because if the airbag goes off the airbag will deflate and fall onto the babys face and could suffocate them A 7 year old will be fine in a child seat with the airbag active.............. I would say it was safer as the airbag will do its job and stop them hitting the dash I don't think that all the golfs had the keyswitch in the glovebox

jedster0
Just don't tell her if you have airbags in the seat as well or just tell her that you have had it done The only way she will know is if you crash, it goes off and she see's the car A bit dishonest but thats what I would do
