quattroman777
Hi, Any ideas on how to get rid of stubborn dirt (mainly on the wings and lower part of the doors)a washmitt won't shift? I used Chemical Guys - Citrus Wash & Gloss with a super sprayer followed by the 2 bucket job. I've just got the car and this was my first go at a proper wash. The car is black and nearly 2 years old, thanks.
steelwind101
Hello! Ok, this stuff wont budge at all? You probably need to clay, as its most likely a bonded contaminent. Failing that get a good degreaser or pre-washer, snow foam might not cut it but its worth having something with a little more bite for those hard to get areas. These can include Surf City Grime Destroyer, P21s total autowash, PB's Bug Squash etc. But if you have never clayed before, you should do it and get your finish smooth and contaminent free. Always follow claying with a chemical cleaner and then a protective wax. Geoff
wyliss
good info via Geoff as usual !, maybe also try some Virosol to get the car back to basics and then clay as Geoff has mentioned, then follow up with then usual polishing, glazing and waxing etc.
steelwind101
As Dibbs says as well! Virosol is a verstitle alround cleaning agent, as with all of the pre-washing - degreasers mentioned you should wax after using them! Geoff
quattroman777
Thanks guys, PB's Bug Squash on the way, if that don't shift it I might get the professionals in. Dread to think what it would look like if I started claying. Anyone like to let me practice on their car first !!!!
steelwind101
Hi Claying really isnt dangerous! Its very safe and non abrasive! Just spray the Bug Squash on neat to dry paintwork, give a few miniutes to work then use your wet soapie mitt in warm water to wash! Its very effective, its really more "than a bug remove" you can also add this product to your normal wash if you want a strong wash. Rewax afterwards, it will with out doubt remove wax! ahaydock
I would suggest a soak in APC, then wash, then Clay. AS long as you use some mild clay and plenty of lube it will be OK - well worth it!
steelwind101
Bug Squash can be used as your APC on the outside of your car.
