What's the make/model of the factory towbar?

Hmm, I just looked on Witter's site and they listed the same 02> Audi A8 towbar (which is D3), and I think Westfalia made/designed the detachable system for Witter. They don't list anything for the D2.

Westfalia list a towbar for the D2, but then the "show details" button is disabled.

The other option is one from GDW (a German outfit) which is also detachable, looks like the ball will fit in the recess in the spare wheel donut, but it's about £50 dearer and requires extra electrics to be bought.

How much do Audi quote for a towbar? Bet it's a lot more than £400?

Definitely Westfalia. Only The pukka westfalia towball will fit nicely in the spare wheel well. To the best of our knowledge, most cars pre 1998 have got towbar wiring already in, including the 13 pin socket. Most cars after this date will require a wiring harness....

From Audi, its just shy of £1000, if they have any left. Stocks were down to single figures last time I queried.

Forgot to mention, its the best towbar I've ever used. on and off in sub 30 seconds, 95Kg downforce rating. Same towbar for sport / non sport models.

And no matter what you're towing, if you've got the 4.2, you probably wont notice... :-)

We've had 3 tons on the back and even though the MPG drops (yes, that is actually possible) it still shifts.

Sorry, I missed your post - you wouldn't happen to know the part number would you, as every time I look at westfalia, I get the D3 part.
