DJStrange
What is it? Westfalia? I've been searching all over for a removable towbar and apparently Westfalia were the suppliers of the OE one Audi used, but the one I keep finding is for the D3 A8. Am I missing something? LostKiwi
I think its made by Witter... but it would seem from some research done a while back they won't sell to anyone outside Audi...(but if someone can prove otherwise I'd be interested to know!!!) DJStrange
Hmm, I just looked on Witter's site and they listed the same 02> Audi A8 towbar (which is D3), and I think Westfalia made/designed the detachable system for Witter. They don't list anything for the D2. Westfalia list a towbar for the D2, but then the "show details" button is disabled. The other option is one from GDW (a German outfit) which is also detachable, looks like the ball will fit in the recess in the spare wheel donut, but it's about £50 dearer and requires extra electrics to be bought. How much do Audi quote for a towbar? Bet it's a lot more than £400?

I've heard numbers of £800-1000 mentioned in previous threads.... Check this thread for more info... It looks like it is a Westfalia unit after all (I was sure it was a Witter!) http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/show...rue#Post1178611
IT_S8
Definitely Westfalia. Only The pukka westfalia towball will fit nicely in the spare wheel well. To the best of our knowledge, most cars pre 1998 have got towbar wiring already in, including the 13 pin socket. Most cars after this date will require a wiring harness.... From Audi, its just shy of £1000, if they have any left. Stocks were down to single figures last time I queried.
IT_S8
Forgot to mention, its the best towbar I've ever used. on and off in sub 30 seconds, 95Kg downforce rating. Same towbar for sport / non sport models. And no matter what you're towing, if you've got the 4.2, you probably wont notice... :-) We've had 3 tons on the back and even though the MPG drops (yes, that is actually possible) it still shifts. DJStrange
http://westfalia-automotive.de/fileadmin/templates/pdf/Audi-305/a305275=221.pdf Yep, that's for the D3. It mentions it in the thread too. Incidentally, I did try searching for "towbar" in the forums but it never pulled that thread up? Hmm...
LostKiwi
Did you specify the date options? Otherwise it will only search the past week by default. I set it to show stuff older than a week only....
