This was last weekend’s job – a mates MKIV VW Golf 1.8T GTi in Metallic Silver as he needs to sell it (PM me if you’re interested). Although the car is mechanically sound and well maintained, the same cannot be said for the exterior or interior – it was lucky if it went through a swirl-o-matic. On the plus side this meant swirls were not bad for a 9 year old car, but it was very very dirty. Unfortunately we were also restricted by time and I didn’t get to do as much as I hoped, however I think I managed to get a good finish on it and I am sure to most that come to look at it will think it looks spot on. So here was the process:

1. Cleaned sills, shuts and engine bay with Megs APC 4:1.

2. Jacked up the car and removed the wheels.

3. Soaked the arches in APC and blasted with PW (didn’t get time to scrub or dress them unfortunately).

4. Sprayed wheels with Megs Wheel Brightener then blasted off with PW.

5. Cleaned wheels with two buckets and a mitt, race glaze and EZ Detail brush using Zym0l Autowash (didn’t get chance to clay or polish).

6. Soaked car in APC, let it dwell for 5 mins then PW off.

7. Washed car using 2 buckets, GG, Serious Performance Mitt and Zym0l Autowash.

8. PW Rinse.

9. Clayed using Sonus Green and Megs LT, and lower panels treated with AG Tar Remover.

10. Soaked in CYC foam then PW off after a few minutes.

11. Dried using Eurow Waffle Weave and Megs LT.

12. Corrected a few of the larger defects using my G220, Megs Cutting pad and Megs #83.

13. Polished the rest of the car using the G220, Megs polishing pad and AG SRP.

14. Glass with Megs Glass Concentrate.

15. Waxed with Collinite 915.

16. Tyres with Megs Endurance Gel.

17. Trim with CG New Look Gel.

18. Interior with APC.

19. Vacuumed with a Dyson and Dyson car attachment kit.

20. Wheel with Poorboys Wheel Sealant.

21. Finally a few sprays of CG New Car Scent.

Thanks guys, the MPG is low as we had the engine just running for a bit.

Is the Dyson car attachment kit worth the £40 or would I achieve similar results just using my Dyson DC07

It's a good kit but look on eBay you can get them cheaper than that!
