Time to buy a new TV

Hi I need to buy a new TV for the lounge to replace my Phillips 24" widescreen CRT (which having moved is a bit small for the lounge now...)

I need to buy from Comet as have a credit to use up - I initially looked at their "deal of the week" the HITACHI L32H01 (Buy HITACHI L32H01 | Digital 32" hd ready lcd tv - Televisions | Comet) but then kept looking and quite liked the PANASONIC TH-37PX8B which seems to have excellent reviews and is 479 at Dixons (549 at Comet so would ask for a price match...) so any experts or just more knowledgaeble than me who can help please ?

Looking for a nice TV for the lounge about 32-37" will sit in the corner by a window (not sure if LCD or plasma copes better here) for regular viewing don't have any HD sources and only watch normal TV via Virgin cable or odd DVD/mpeg movie (my DVD player has a USB input) so don't necessarily need a tuner (I assume ?) Budget about 500 but could pay a bit more or a bit less...

Also do plasma TVs still die if you tip them over ?

To avoid the risk of have a wide screen carpet I am thinking of buying this one - Toshiba 37AV505D (Buy TOSHIBA 37AV505D | Digital 37" hd ready lcd tv - Televisions | Comet) again price matched down to 475

Can anyone tell me if this is a bad idea ?

A bit of research suggested LCD more practical as will sit in a corner by the window + is easier to move about
