crasher
Hi all Since my son trashed his TV he's had nothing to connect his PS2 to. Now his aging PC has finally bitten the dust i thought i might try to kill 2 birds in one hit. Does anyone have any reccomendations for a 'Media' PC? It would need the normal functionality of a PC (for homework, games, chat, photos, iTunes etc) but also have TV reception and the ability to hook it up to PS2 and other games consoles. Screen would preferably be a reasonable size for a bedroom (so something about 20" tops) as it has to fit on his desk. Should also have an ethernet port (as i've cabled the network at home) and media card connectivity. I know that i could probably get the above by building my own but frankly i dont have the time and my son probably does not have the patience Oh, and i dont want to go beyond £1000 - the cheaper the better Regards
craigyb
Have you looked for any of the discontinued ELonex media center PC's. I have 4 of the Artisan base unit's, but they also made some with screens and pc built in together. Elonex Exentia with a 17" widescreen, refurbished units from £295, new at around £600 Elonox Exentia PRO with a 22" screen, was available at woolies for £999 Buy Elonex Exentia Pro All-in-One PC TV Media Center from Woolworths.co.uk online shop This is on ebay now, in fact I might buy one myself. ELONEX eXentia ALL IN ONE MEDIA CENTRE on eBay, also, Desktop PCs, Computing (end time 02-Jul-08 11:17:58 BST) Elonox Lumina with a 32" widescreen
bullett
Gaming will be the issue with and specifically media based PC's. I self built over a year ago with a 23" screen and a GTX8800 and spent less than £1000. If you don't want to self build then get a regular PC and stick in a TV card. Novatech.com have some good systems for a fair price.

Much better value in a normal PC with a TV card built in or added.

Chris_B
Why not just buy an LCD TV with VGA/DVI input, and a cheapo PC? Plug the PS2 into a SCART socket, the PC into DVI/VGA and away you go! Screen something like this: Samsung Pebble SM932MW 19" HD Ready Widescreen Monitor/TV 1440x900 1000:1 300cd/m2 5ms DVI/HDMI Speakers Glossy Black Finish - Ebuyer PC: Aspire M1640 Core 2 Duo E4600 250 GB 2 x 1 GB DVDRW Vista Home Premium - Ebuyer
